Reignite Your New Year’s Resolutions

How to Finish 2024 Strong with Our Fall Into Wellness Challenge

As we approach the end of the year, it’s natural to start reflecting on the goals we set back in January. Those New Year’s resolutions often begin with enthusiasm, but as life gets busy, they can fade into the background. I’m someone who loves the fresh start of a new year, setting goals, tracking progress, and seeing how far I can go. Yet, like many of us, I find that not all of my goals stick around for the long haul.

But this year is different! To help you finish 2024 on a high note, I’m excited to invite you to join our Fall Into Wellness Challenge. Over the next eight weeks, we’ll focus on reigniting your goals, building healthy habits, and setting yourself up for success as the year comes to a close. This challenge is packed with resources, including a free workbook, weekly action steps, and motivating content to keep you on track. Together, we can make these final months count!

Did you know there’s even a day called Quitter’s Day? It’s the second Friday of January — the day most people abandon their New Year’s resolutions. But here’s the good news: Fall is the perfect time to revisit those goals, re-evaluate your progress, and set yourself up for a strong finish to 2024. With four months left, there’s still plenty of time to achieve meaningful wins and head into the new year with momentum!

Step 1: Reflect on Your Original New Year’s Resolutions

We often forget to celebrate our successes, thanks to our brain’s natural negativity bias. But now is the time to dig into your accomplishments and acknowledge how far you’ve come this year. Grab your journal, scroll through your calendar, or simply flip through the photos on your phone. You might be surprised by how much you’ve achieved — and you might also uncover why certain goals didn’t pan out.

Ask yourself:

  • What goals have you made progress on?
  • Which goals have been left behind?
  • What challenges have you faced, and how can you overcome them?

To help you through this process, I’ve created a free workbook for our Fall Into Fitness Challenge. The first worksheet is all about reflection, and it’s the perfect tool to guide you through this exercise.

Looking back at my own goals from January, I see wins like starting a garden (albeit with only two cherry tomatoes!), teaching a yoga class, and growing my newsletter. I also faced some personal challenges, like the loss of a family member and supporting my partner through a battle with colon cancer. These experiences remind me to give myself grace and understand why some goals fell off track. But now, it’s time to reset and realign!

Step 2: Reset and Realign Your Goals

With a clearer picture of your year so far, it’s time to see what can still be salvaged. Review your original intentions and identify the goals that still have potential. There’s no need to wait until January to get back on track.

Use the Week 1 Worksheet from the workbook to pinpoint 1-3 goals you can realistically achieve before the year ends. Then, break these goals down into actionable steps that will make them a reality.

Step 3: Create an Action Plan

Now that you’ve identified your goals and action steps, it’s time to get specific. Break those steps down into weekly or even daily tasks. If a task feels too overwhelming, keep breaking it down until it’s manageable. For instance, when I return to work after a long vacation, my first task might simply be to check voicemail. The next day, I can focus on returning calls.

Life is full of surprises, and sometimes our best-laid plans are disrupted. That’s okay! The key is to keep moving forward, one small step at a time. Remember, success isn’t just about meeting deadlines; it’s about consistent progress.
