My Personal Morning Routine

I want to share my own morning routine with you, which has become a cherished part of my day. Each element is designed to promote self-reflection, physical well-being, and mental clarity.

  1. Water First: Before I reach for my morning Cup of Joe, I reach for my water bottle. I’ve hopefully had a long night of sleeping and my body is dehydrated and needs the H2O to wake me up and get things going!
  2. Coffee: Now I’m ready for a warm cup of coffee. This quiet moment allows me to wake up slowly and savor the calm before the day begins.
  3. Journaling: Next, I spend a few minutes journaling. This practice helps me clear my mind, set intentions, and express gratitude. It’s a powerful way to start the day on a positive note. I practice The Artist’s Way method of Morning Pages — three free-form pages of writing anything in my head. I finish this off by writing down three things I’m grateful for, and then a quick check in of my financial plan and meal plan for the day, and I’m off to the next step!
  4. Exercise: Physical activity is crucial for waking up the body and boosting energy levels. Whether it’s a short yoga session or a brisk walk, exercise helps me feel invigorated and ready to tackle the day.
  5. Meditation: Finally, I end my routine with a few minutes of meditation. This practice helps me center myself, reduce stress, and approach the day with a calm and focused mind.

Inspiration from Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama

To add to the inspiration, let’s take a look at how two incredible women, Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama, start their days.

  • Oprah Winfrey: Oprah’s morning routine includes meditation, exercise, and a healthy breakfast. She emphasizes the importance of starting the day with stillness and intention.
  • Jennifer Aniston: Jennifer prioritizes meditation, journaling, eating a healthy meal, exercise and walking her dogs in her morning routine. She also spends her first hour of the day screen free.

Creating Your Own Morning Routine

Building a morning routine that works for you doesn’t have to be complicated, nor perfect. Start by identifying a few key practices that resonate with you and make you feel good. Remember, it’s not about perfection but about creating moments for yourself that bring clarity, focus, and joy.
